Course Description

This eight hour Temporary Holding & Court Facility Training course is certified by Standards and Training for Corrections (STC) and meets the requirements for Title 15 § 1024. Upon completion of this course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion and STC Credit.

Course Summary

This course is for those that are operating and/or working in a temporary holding facility. During this course, participants will learn about minimum jail standards, jail operations liability, inmate segregation, emergency procedures, fire and life safety, and suicide prevention.

Performance Objectives

After taking this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify what a court holding facility and temporary holding facility is
  • Identify the minimum jail standards according to Title 15 and Penal Code
  • Recognize situations that raise liability concerns
  • Identify the requirements for segregating inmates
  • Identify the proper needs of housing juvenile and/or female inmates
  • Identify emergency procedures to deal with fires and other events that may threaten temporary holding facilities and the safety of inmates
  • Identify how to handle and observe inmates that present a suicide risk
